This magical place is the first farm/culinary lodge in Puerto Rico. The Pretext is located in Cayey, Puerto Rico, one hour from the capital San Juan. It has a phenomenal view of the southern area of ​​the island. It is a private residence that its owners decided to share with others. They have agroecological planting, an agroforestry area, and fruit trees. After overcoming the ravages of Hurricane Maria, they have now added 2 more villas and 2 more Villas are under construction.

This Property is a quiet place in the countryside where you can relax, pamper yourself and share in an intimate environment. The Pretext is for adults only and they only work with reservations. Unfortunately, they do not allow pets as they have their own animals on the property and do not want conflicts between them.

El Pretexto offers various events such as pop-up and farm-to-table dinners. It also offers the opportunity to celebrate private events such as weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries. One of the events that caught our attention is El Pretexto Food Experience.

El Pretexto Food Experience

This 7-day experience allows for an enriching time by slowing down and immersing yourself in our diverse geography, culture, food, and traditions. You can learn how to prepare classic Puerto Rican dishes, fresh pasta, and desserts, or even filet a fish!

What Is included in the pretext food experience?

  • Transportation to and from the airport (SJU).

  • Personalized attention and lodging by Crystal Díaz.

  • Bedroom and private bathroom for seven nights.

  • Transportation to the farms, fishing villages, rum plants, and restaurants.

  • All breakfasts, lunches, and dinners.

  • All the ingredients of the cooking class.

  • The apron of The Pretext.

  • Wines and rums.

  • 1 massage of 30 min.

  • Yoga and cardio sessions to start the day.

  • Farmer's remuneration, tourist tickets, and fees for parking in beaches or parks.

When is the experience?

Well, they have several dates already established for 2023: January 29 to February 5, 2023, March 12 to 19, 2023, May 21 to 28, 2023, and June 18 to 25, 2023.

As indicated before, this place is magical and its owner Crystal Diaz is so kind, super helpful, and transmits a lot of peace. She has more than 18 years of experience in media and marketing. She is passionate about food and its origins, where our food comes from, agriculture, and how food connects us.
